Precise laser sensors for reflecting surfaces
2021-01-21
Measuring displacement and distance on strongly reflecting surfaces brings conventional sensor to their limits as these are originally designed for diffuse reflection.
This is why the optoNCDT 1750DR laser sensor was specially designed for surfaces such as reflecting plastics, mirrored glass and polished metals. It measures according to the principle of direct reflection. The sensor is aligned in such a way that the angle of incidence is equal to the angle of reflection. Furthermore, a special calibration is performed. The high intensity of the reflected light is compensated for using special algorithms. The Real-Time-Surface-Compensation feature controls the exposure in real time. This compensates for fluctuating reflectivity and generates stable measurement values with high accuracy.
The laser sensor also impresses with an innovative installation concept. Its compact design and an integrated controller enable installation even in very restricted spaces. Since there is no external controller, installation and wiring are significantly simplified. The applied laser class 1 is another advantage since no eye protective measures are required as the radiated power is at max. 390 µW. A mounting template for correct sensor alignment is included in the accessories.
The laser sensor can be operated using an intuitive web interface. Due to the selectable setting and evaluation possibilities, they are ideal for industrial applications with high dynamics.
